JustVim Ninja Assasin Movie Review

Synopsis: Raizo (Rain) is one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them…and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge. In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow, Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi, to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive…and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.

When a movie's first scene shows one thug getting the top of his head sliced off and another being chopped diagonally in half, you know you're not in for much of a dramatic crescendo. There was so much fighting in the dark, with lights going out all the time, like the Assassins were the electricians who knew exactly where the switches and whatnot!

You know, heads may roll, torsos get severed and geysers of blood spurt, but no amount of CGI-gore can save 'Ninja Assassin' from being dramatically lame, visually impaired and kinetically flat-footed. It was like James Mcteigue wanted the audience to have their thumbs aching form the controllers of a bloody, senseless, plot-evaporating, mindless gore game.

Ninja Assassin is wildly improbable and completely unrealistic, but it's also bloody good fun for the gore fanatics who love blood more than vampires. I mean, two-foot long, Samurai Sword-inflicted lacerations healing with Rain’s incredible meditation? Talk about realism, this film has more nonsense than blood. Blood spurts out of every imaginable orifice without a respectable clot in sight. Welcome to the poorly-scripted gush-fest, perfect for the Xbox set -- it's not a film, it's Grand Theft Ninja.

Rain and Harris are decent and there are moments of stylized lunacy that nearly work, but Ninja Assassin is a film that falls apart as soon as you think about any single element of it. With no proper sense of killing, no roots to fall back on, no idea what some scenes were for and no continuation in action, this is one poorly scripted film which tries vainly to ride on Rain’s perfect Abs and nicely-sculptured body.

For what is worth, it is really funny to note the use of immense firepower and force on a small temple of Ninjas at the final scene just as Raizo was about to be executed. I mean, you sure you really need 0.50 calibre high-power assault machine guns, so much explosives and highly-trained soldiers to combat a troop of masked men? To be frank, the throwing stars the ninjas threw were really much more effective and powerful, who cares about rifles and 0.50 calibres? And just for the record, shouldn't throwing stars be silent? If they're going to sound like gunshots, why not just use guns?

Probably the only fight scene worth a mention is the final one between Raizo and his master. The JustVim Crew has never seen so much gore, blood and guts spilled by Rain --- and him miraculously still surviving to go “nuts” and turn invisible to destroy his master. Sword dynamics, screenplay and lighting were horrible and if you think you are going to enjoy the swishing and kungfu, think twice, you probably won’t see a thing as the CGI-animated blood fills the screen and blackness covers up most of the juicy parts --- Mcteigue probably wanted to save the film’s lack of discipline and senseless plot from the critics!

It's a gorefest, a borefest and a snorefest. But for the ladies who wanted to see Rain’s physique, beware the scars and blood smeared all over him, it is not as appealing as you want.

Contact lenses that can transmit data, a Spy’s dream come true

The various Spy groups all over must be going ballistic with excitement with the news that contact lens heads up displays could soon become a reality. Of course it’s more than likely they already have this technology, but I’m a 007 movie buff so I’ll believe anything. But Dr. Babak Parviz of the University of Washington in Seattle has just shown off a new prototype of lens that’s equipped with a semi-transparent array that includes an LED that receives 330 microwatts of power wirelessly from a RF transmitter in the close vicinity. The prototypes he’s designed have been able to so far display biosensor feedback about the wearer’s vital signs. These type of lenses infused with this kind of technology are called opto-electronic contact lenses.

The technology is far from complete of course and tests are still underway to take this tech to the next level so that users will be able to use the special lenses to receive more data. There’s talk of newer models being able to interact and integrate with transmitters located in future mobile handsets. The new lenses could also come equipped with more LEDs to provide for a better resolution.

Leona Lewis to launch fashion line

Leona Lewis is one of those few celebrities who doesn’t have her own fashion line. And no wonder she decided to join the others and create something really stylish.

Besides, the line Leona is currently working will be animal-friendly because the singer has been an animal lover all her life and cannot even think of wearing suede, leather or fur.

The collection will be launched through fellow animal lover Stella McCartney.

Leona said:
"I’m on a mission. I’d love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not so expensive. There’s so much I want to do. I’ve always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that’s something I want to focus on next year.”

Leona has been a vegetarian for years and is a public supporter of PETA. This is what brings Leona even closer to Stella.

49,000 Volunteers leave Wikipedia

There is always a slump in the amount of new things that we learn about, over a period of time. It's the same with Wikipedia as well. The famous online encyclopedia is considered as the best Internet knowledge based site in the world. The English version of the site lost about 49,000 contributors in the first three months of this year. There may soon be a little less for us to know. Strangely though, the reason of the fall includes several smaller things. Wikipedia was founded by one Jummy Wales in 2001 and enjoys 325 million visits a month. The articles are based on contributions of site visitors.

Lauren Conrad to Write Style Guide

Lauren Conrad is planning to write a style book.

The designer has signed a deal with publishers Harper Collins and will give readers advice on how to recreate her look.

Lauren, who has her own range of clothing for US department store Kohl’s, comments:
"I am really excited to write a style guide. I think fashion should be fun and reflective of who you are. When you wear clothes you feel good in, it shows in everything you do. I know this guide will offer simple, practical tips to help anyone look fabulous.”

Beside tips and advice, the book will contain new and never-before-seen photos of a ‘Hills’ star.
The style guide is set to release late next year.

Rihanna to launch a clothing line

Rihanna who is famous for her extravagant style is planning to launch her own line of womenwear. And do you know who she is inspired by? Kate Moss!
The singer claims she has already started working on the colletion.

I’ve started work on the collection, we are getting it together. It is in the beginning stages. "Fashion is something I have always loved,” Rihanna told Grazia magazine.

"I love Kate Moss. She’s just hands-down one of the baddest badasses in the land. Nobody can take her down. I really admire Kate because every photo shoot she does is different. Every time you see her there is a different energy that she puts out in whatever outfit she is wearing. I think she is amazing.”

Rihanna is very creative and sees music and designing as those spheres where she can realize herself.

She explained:
"I am a very creative person, so it is another way for me to get my creativity out.”

Well, I don’t believe in those singer-designer transormations much. But if Rihanna thinks she can do that we will wait and then appreciate her work.

Levi’s x Porter 2009 Fall/Winter Big Shoulder / Messenger Bag

Levi’s and Porter just recently saw their partnership re-newed over a series of new wallets for 2009 fall/winter. However, also included in the range for this season are two further bag offerings. The Big Shoulder and Messenger Bag both feature a chambray body which has subsequently be wax-coated for water repellency. Furthermore, the bag’s various elements including straps and buttons are ultimately subtle and draw little attention.
