Nike gladiator sandals

There are rarely any neck-breakingly fabulous flips for the ladies to rip. That’s about to change with the Nike Gladiator Mid. When my fashionista-designer best friend hit me up with an image of these in my inbox begging for a hook up I knew these were probably about to change the face of sneakers in fashion for the better.

But it seems this design was created long before the Swoosh factory claimed it as their own. Let’s rewind to Product Design student Nancy Wu’s “Nike : Remixed and Recut” project. Conceived while at the Art Centre College of Design in Pasadena and long before Nike released their own version, Nancy sliced, diced and julienned her way to create a collection of Greco-inspired Nike sandals. Coincidence much? First up, let’s give props where they are due. Nancy’s vision elevates the brand’s sensibility to heights not seen since Jeremy Scott’s reinterpretation of adidas Originals in his ObyO range.

One can only speculate as to whether the design student was given kudos for the design of the Gladiator. One thing’s for sure, it’s great to see a sneaker brand so focused on bringing fashion-forward product to the ladies that fiend so hard for something stylin' and profilin'.

And these are only available at Nike’s flagship store in Singapore ! But whispers tell us these will be popping up at Colette in the near future, so bronze up…it’s time to get your Crussle Rowe on!
