Top trend: peaked shoulders

Since Balmain brought shoulder pads back to fashion we have seen them in plenty on the runway. Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana and others have included this hot trend into their collections thus making us look closer at the new design.
Actually it isn’t new. It was invented in 1930s, when designer of the moment Elsa Schiaparelli used strong shoulders in her ranges.

In 1932 the shoulder pads became highly fashionable thanks to a movie star Joan Crawford who sported peaked shoulders in the film Letty Lynton.

Now again we see the pads in jackets, shirts, even dresses, and it seems to me for some time this new trend will stay with us.
