Boulevard of Broken Dreams

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where children starve and poetry sings
Where missing souls and depression screams
Where lovers kiss and mourn in the night it seems

Forsaken hopes and forlorn thoughts
Summoning silence and pausing halts
Turning the strongest hand into the weakest man
Morphing our fate into God knows when

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where wishes and hopes are nothing more than linoleum wings
Flying away into the end it seems
Fading away like the old church bells’ rings

Even the best knows when to give up sometimes
Begging for the worst and praying for the chimes
Of heavenly wind chimes singing in the winds
Winds of the misery breezing with a grin
A grin that nearly started a Nuclear war
A war never once fought but did so much more

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where someone somewhere was once a prince
Where Food Stamps won’t provide education
For the hurt, lost and weary beyond salvation

For the beaten and the damned lost in transition
For the ones left behind in Globalisation
For the truth that refuse to give in to the damnation
For the deceit that got amplified in the politician
When money did what love couldn’t have done
We got afraid of ourselves and decided to run

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where politicians lie and pastors try
Where the rich man prosper while the poor man dies
Where the truth will fly and the hate will amplify

Revealing the sad stories that has riddled our lives
The pain we all feel in the middle of the night
Uncovering the bare glories of battles we have fought
Now that’s what I call a food for thought
