Education Talk @ JustVim

Hey all,

A lil' something for all of ya to chew on, the National Education system in Singapore.
Now, it is no surprise that Education today is overrated, under-appreciated and overwhelming these days, not only for the pupils, but the teachers too.

I mean kids go to school daily, with CCAs, Performances, Projects, CIP, Lab work and so much more on top of their normal school workload. Top schools are so packed, we are churning out information robots every year---by the way, we have wikipedia already.

The ugly truth is Society don't really need hardworking, hardcore, hardwired scholars. Instead, we need innovative, inventive and ingenious creative-thinkers who can build new concepts, revise old ideas and challenge the stigmas we face today.

Brighter, intellectually-inclined kids get the goodies in the schools, nail all the brownie points, tend to snatch all the bursaries, awards, opportunities and also thick scholarly glasses.

The less adept will be mistreated with lack of guidance, lesser opportunities, slacker workload and have more affinity with the Discipline Master's Magical Cane.

No no, please we are not comparing the streams nor labeling categories here, The JV Crew would simply like to say, what will be will be. You cannot manufacture a superstar nor give birth to talent. The process is more arduous, discombobulating, iffy and dangerous than you can ever imagine.

For all you hardworking peeps out there, stay in school, read more books, slurp more caffeine, study hard for your exams and stop memorizing essays for god's sake!

For all the slacking, less energetic and carefree scholars, stop skipping school, stay away from cigarettes and gangs, join a sport and remember, there are worser things in life than being expelled!

Mark Twain said he never allowed schooling to interfere with his education.

We say, get a grip, get a life and get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.

Peace out.
