Designer Tokujin Yoshioka celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Issey Miyake Watch Project with the creation of the watch “O”. Inspired by water (the French word for water is eau and pronounced as ‘o’), the watch embodies an aesthetic that looks to replicate a sculpture of ice. The transparent bracelet style features free flowing lines that blends seamlessly onto the wrist. Available at the start of July through select retailers.

Screaming at your mobile phone could help charge it up in future!
Yelling at your phone will finally do you some good, much to the annoyance of those around you though. Scientists recently have come up with a gadget that trickles charge into your mobile phone battery, using sound energy and converting it into electrical energy. This will, and we’re pretty sure about it, encourage mobile phone users to unnecessarily yell into their mobile phones, to keep them juiced up, and could be one of the most irritating technological breakthroughs. The louder the volume of your voice, the more the charge generated. And the tech isn’t limited to just mobile phones. It could be integrated into portable media players too.
Soon in the future, the frustration you vent out at your mobile phone when it runs out of charge could actually power it back, if yelling is your way of blowing off steam that is.

Using staircases as a main architectural theme throughout, the multipurpose area will be used for exhibitions, fittings, product launches and other media events. Mirroring Puma’s relationship to sports and athletics, the space provides a sense of movement, reminding us of the constant need for exercise, and enables a three-dimensional product display that fully uses its environment.

A tale of two Rios
Kia has unveiled the North American version of the Kia Rio sedan at the New York International Auto Show in the US. The compact sedan shares the same platform as the Kia K2 unveiled at Auto Shanghai a couple of days ago but it features a face that more closely resembles the Kia Rio hatch. The chassis and undercarriage of the Kia Rio sedan is largely the same as that found on the hatch version. Similarly, the interior is configured in much the same way as the hatch, with minor revisions here and there.
The 2012 Rio is longer, wider and lower than the previous generation model, measuring 4366mm long, 1,720mm wide and 1,455mm high. Kia said that thanks to the use of high-tensile-strength steel, the new Rio offers increased torsional stiffness for improved handling, ride quality and refinement while reducing overall weight.
In the USA, the new Rio is powered by a 135HP 1.6-litre GDI four-cylinder engine with the option of either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic. Kia said that the new Rio is estimated to return mileage of 7.8L/100km for city driving and 5.8L/100km in the highway. The Rio will be offered with Kia’s start-stop ISG technology.
Going on to the Chinese market, the redesigned Rio borrows the aggressive styling seen on the Optima. I would even call it a miniaturized Kia Optima. Under the hood, two petrol engines will be available, namely the Gamma 1.4 litre (108 bhp) and 1.6 litre (133 bhp) units. It seems that the Chinese Rio will not benefit from GDI technology, unlike its American twin. Measuring 4,370 mm (overall length) by 1,700 mm (overall width) by 1,460 mm (overall height), the car is longer but slimmer than the US Rio.
Im so impressed by the Rio now! Definitely differently from the previous model

Angry Birds plush is the collectible for the year
The days of SpongeBob Squarepants and Homer Simpson are gone by, just like that of Mickey Mouse and Gollywog did some time back. It's now the age of the Angry Birds. Instead of just being the plush that looks good, these also produce the sounds of annoyed birds, as they're all over the place, dealing with pigs and other woes. The Angry Birds plush models are part of the franchise that adds more fame to the already hugely popular game. What's more is that these are five inches tall, thus fitting into just the right 'bird-size'.
You can also pick the pigs if you want to. They make sounds too, after their head is tapped.

Gift a Pepsi with its new Social Vending Machine
The world is going social, while Pepsi does everything in its power to get you to drinking more Pepsi! Their latest innovation is a special online social platform realm that the company is applying to their physical vending machines. Its very own Social Vending Machine, was showcased today at a trade show in Chicago that will let users gift drinks to friends and even strangers. The machine comes with a touch screen interface that gives users the option to buy a drink, gift a drink, redeem a drink, or connect with the Pepsi Refresh Project. All you have to do is choose a drink, enter your friend’s phone number along with a text message and an optional video message and Send. Your friend will receive gift as a text message on their phone with a code, which can be redeemed at their local social vending machine. You can also gift strangers with the “random acts of refreshment” feature.
A tie-in with Facebook or Twitter or any kind of iOS or Android app, would largely help boost this, because having to physically type in phone numbers and text messages on screen could be bothersome. Watch a demo video on Justvim's Facebook here!
iPhone vinyl playing dock concept is win all the way, converts to MP3
Nostalgia isn't a stranger to iPhone accessory whores. But, there comes this one off marvel of a design that is just too good to roll into retail and still thrives as a concept. It's nothing like the turntable docks we've seen before, spinning the much missed vinyls to churn good music. It's got the ability to convert tracks from your LPs to MP3 format that is sent to your iPhone that is evidently being charged by this dock. That's totally sweet for someone seeking multi-functionality.
The idea behind this revival mechanism will surely be appreciated by many. It even adds nostalgia and modern elements to design. It is designed by Olivier Meynard.

Steering wheels are 9 times filthier than a public toilet
According to a British survey, 80 bacteria are found per square inch in a toilet and around 700 bacteria lurk in every square inch of your car especially the steering wheel. The study reveals that around 42% of the motorists eat meals while driving. The boot of the car takes the cake when it comes to the dirtiest part in the car with around 1300 bacteria per square inch. The most common bugs found in cars are the bacillus cereus (found in rice, pasta, potatoes and pies) and the arthrobacter (found in soil and human skin). I wonder if the average American steering wheel will be equally dirty or better?

Designers Give Fashion Advice: Karl Lagerfeld
Who should we take fashion advice from if not from designers, those people who create pieces we consider fashionable? The latest to reveal secrets of good style was Karl Lagerfeld, an iconic Chanel designer
Karl Lagerfeld’s Fashion Advice #1: “Buy what you know works for your body and only buy something if it fits well.”
Our interpretation: Even if you would die for that pair of slouchy pants you should stay away from it if it makes your hips look huge. This rule works for anything in terms of clothing. If something doesn’t look great on you just move to the next shelf, you don’t want it.
Karl Lagerfeld’s Fashion Advice #2: “Never underestimate the power of a simple T-shirt, jeans and a jacket. It always looks very chic.”
Our interpretation: You look perfect in a dress but isn’t it a bit uncomfortable to run errands in the city wearing it? Jeans and a t-shirt are always better. Accessorize your look to avoid looking plain.
Karl Lagerfeld’s Fashion Advice #3: “Lots of women look great with no make-up on, so if you have good skin, keep it bare.”
Our interpretation: If you are naturally beautiful and don’t really need a concealer to hide problem spots on your face go without makeup. Russian supermodel Sasha Pivovarova believes the fact she uses little makeup is her beauty secret.
Karl Lagerfeld’s Fashion Advice #4: “You can’t avoid all the color and the brights out there. Give it a go. By next autumn/winter we will all be wearing black and grey again because everyone will be fed up of the color and print!
Our interpretation: Spring and summer are the perfect seasons for wearing color. You simply cannot go grey and dull when everything around is so vivid and lovely. Not daring enough to rock flashy garments? Opt for bright accessories instead.

Mizuno Wave Prophecy
The Mizuno Wave Prophecy hits select retailers across the country on May 6, 2011. Seven years in the making, Mizuno’s vision for the shoe was to create one that optimizes the amount of compression in the heel, alleviating stiffness in the forefoot, and reducing the shoe’s overall weight. The shoe gives you the “ride of your life” as the technologies are built to work in harmony with your foot. Mizuno’s award-winning Wave Technology achieves the two things runners want in shoes: cushion and stability. The Prophecy accomplishes this without putting two separate and sometimes contradictory materials together. The shoe essentially features two Wave plates, stacked and molded together at different densities to facilitate landing on either the forefoot or midfoot. This is what provides the dynamic ‘ride’ feeling you get when you run in the shoe.

The iPhone 4 was undoubtedly the catalyst for an all new movement in digital photography. The ability to instantaneously share imagery together with a competent performing package and social apps such as Instagram have made the iPhone 4 virtually uncontested in ubiquity. BlackDA create a concept that hopes to further enhance the properties of the iPhone 4 with its Leica i9 concept. Based on a “Compliment without Compromise” philosophy, the i9 serves as an add-on camera and case. The case includes internal flash memory to house images from a Leica 12.1 MP CMOS sensor and lens which also contains 8x optical zoom. Paired together, the BlackDA Leica i9 Concept Camera boosts greater performance with the connectivity of the iPhone 4.
