FaceID unlocks your door with Face Recognition

FaceID is a cool, new system that will be the driving force behind most home security systems. The usual password, swipe card, retina and fingerprint scanning systems are already behind us, as face recognition takes it place in our midst. What’s really exciting about it is that it isn’t the usual concept that leaves us dreaming for a particular gadget, instead, FaceID is available, and looks good enough to make your porch look like the entry of a Smart Home. It uses a pair of digital cameras that help create a 3D image of your face. This face model is stored and matched with whoever stands before the system and decides whether to let in someone or not. Thankfully, it works in the dark as well.

Make sure that you take your mask off after the drunken party else you’re not getting in.

Lady Gaga’s Style to be Awarded

Lady Gaga is to be awarded for her “well-appointed” accessories.

The singer is famous for her flamboyant outfits, accessories and makeup. She is admired by many but hated by some either.

However, it has been announced recently that the ‘Poker Face’ star’s style has been noticed and appreciated. And the eccentric girl is going to be given a Stylemaker Award at the 13th annual Accessories Council Exchange (ACE) Awards on Monday (02.11.09) in recognition of her unique wardrobe.

Karen Giberson, president of ACE, commented:
"As an artist, she’s well-appointed in accessories. Just when you thought you saw everything in originality, there she is again. People anticipate what she’s going to wear and it’s exciting to see accessories as such a meaningful part of someone’s wardrobe. Whether it’s her hat or gloves, she’s always well-appointed.”

The singer will have a twice honour since it’s Marc Jacobs who will present the award to her.
Among other honorees at the ceremony will be Diane von Furstenberg (an Accessory Visionary Award), Tomas Maier of Bottega Veneta (Designer of the Year) and Burberry (Brand of the Year). Even Barbie will be honoured as a Fashion Icon.

Pull and Bear Lookbook F/W 2009/2010

The Spanish label Pull and Bear offers us a wide range of chic rock’n’roll clothes for both men and women. The ad campaign looks funny and interesting with models wearing garments in repair shops, barns and some abandened buildings.
Clothes look great with a bit of casual feel. Colors are mostly dark: blacks, greys and blues. And patterns aren’t frequently used, just a few plaid shirts and jackets.

I like hats: girls’ berets, men’s fedoras and caps. Sunglasses look fantastic!

Pull and Bear company was started in 1991 by Inditex Group. It first operated in Portugal and then opened up branches in Greece, Malta and other countries.

Claudia Schiffer for Vogue Deutsch November 2009

Well-known Austrian artist Erwin Wurm has done a terrific photoshoot with German supermodel Claudia Schiffer for Vogue Deutsch.

Claudia is featured with pencils between her toes, a toy pig on her head, a broom sticking out from under her skirt and in some other really bizarre situations and positions.
Although for some this photoshoot might seem just a strange series of photos this is actually a work of art.

It’s Wurm’s artistic background and fascination with everyday objects that helped him to put the model into the chair or press her to the wall with domestic objects in between.

The editorial is titled Kunst Pausen (Art Paused).

‘One Minute Sculptures’ is what Wurm is perfect at. He started doing this in the 1980s and until now his art has been very popular. He uses models as temporary sculptures, often in bizarre or even humorous situations involving commonplace objects.

From the fashion perspective this photoshoot has some sense as well. Claudia wears a few trenchcoats from big-named designers and labels: Ralph Lauren Blue Label, Maison Martin Margiela, Burberry Prorsum, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garçons, Rene Lezard, Lacoste and A.P.C. See and enjoy the pictures!

SOPH. x Tiffany & Co. 10th Anniversary Keychain

SOPH. and Tiffany & Co. mark yet another heavyweight collaboration for SOPH.’s 10th anniversary. The u-shaped metal piece is actually a keychain with ball-bearings that can twisted off to insert your keys with a further SOPH. ornament. No word yet on a release date if any.

Kate Moss Christmas 2009 Collection

Kate Moss collection with TopShop. The photoshoot was done with unusual lightling making Kate look really curvy and hot.
The 35-year-old supermodel says the collection is inspired by traditional Japanese and Chinese styles and techniques. It displays prints of bamboo, flying stalks, lotus flowers, fireworks, etc.

Beside beautiful dresses you see, the line includes a series of shrugs and sequinned knit waistcoats to keep you warm in the cold winter evenings.
To add to these, the model created a few lingerie items for the range: triangular-shaped bras as well as floral printed silk pyjamas. And it was planned to include nightwear into the line too.
I love beautiful nightwear, it makes you feel great,” Kate said. “Over the years, I’ve collected millions of vintage slips, nighties, camis and bed jackets.”

The new range is going to generate the usual hysteria from teenagers desperate to imitate the icon’s style. But Kate considers it’s not her celebrity status that makes her lines so successful.

She told The Observer’s Woman magazine:
"I don’t think people buy these things because they want to look like me. They buy them because they know that I have an input, and that I really know about fashion, about fit. And so I should. I’ve had 20 years of clothes on my back.’

Kate has even confessed she likes being taken as a designer:
"If I can keep people interested in my work for another few years I’ll be happy.”
