Stressin’ and fussin’

Holla to the peeps checking us out right now.

Warm appreciation from the JV crew right here for spending your precious time with us.

We like to talk about Stress. More importantly, the dire feeling that you have got the weight of the whole world on your shoulders and you can no longer move or think properly.

There are times in our life where we will feel down and out. Like how saddened JFK was when political schemes backfire in a depressed new America, like Lebron James when he was sent home despite putting up a god-like performance against the Celtics in the playoffs 2010, like how low our dignified Minister Mentor felt when Singapore was ejected from Malaysia on 9 Aug 1965.
We can’t deny that pain and suffering will intersect our lives every so often. Some call it God’s Will, Insha’Allah, Academics say its probability and nonchalant observers will deem it part and parcel of life. We all agree it fits undoubtedly into the grand scheme of things, but how do we deal with it then?
Our lovers’ whims and grunts, our parent’s nagging, teacher’s homework piling in, boss’ unruly amount of work tasked, so much work, so little time. Stresses get us down when we run out of time and our mind goes on a one-way track of self-destruction and denigration. We have to meet requirements, analyse data, study for work, tests, exams, finish projects, tasks, homework, research, learn, absorb, do, find, redefine and so much more in whatever limited constraints we already don’t have.
It is not hard to give in to the stressing and fussing. To admit defeat, raise the white flag, call it a day and back down from the woes plaguing your soul, making your mind weary and worn. Come on, we all know how stressful it can be and most of us have tried or at least contemplated about such dreadful thoughts before. It may seem like the easier way out but what fun would there be?
The JustVim Crew suggest, like a rarefied thought equivalent to an intergalactic cosmic meteoric collision, it wouldn’t hurt to take a chance. Do prioritise and take a breather first, then map out your goals, what you want, can or can’t do, and make them happen. Don’t focus on the fussing and put your mind at ease, cogitating rather, on the simple, unobtrusive stuff like how beautiful life would be if you do it right, it’s a charm that works, not everytime, but it helps.
If you focus on all the stresses and pitfalls you occasionally stumble into, you would never end up with anything useful or productive. Imagine the 2010 NBA playoffs, if Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson had given up their dreams and their hopes for the Orlando Magic when they consecutively lost 3 games to the Boston Celtics, there wouldn’t be the drama, the intensity, fervor and passion. Though they lost 4-2 eventually, the whole world knows how hard they fought, their drive to win, their amazing ability to fight back and dispatch all their doubters. For the record, Magic didn’t lose, it was the Celtics that won, by iron-will, indomitable spirit, dominating heart and overcoming the stressin’ and fussin’.

Bottom-line: The Crew hope that none of you out there let life’s stresses get you down. Embrace and take pride in knowing that without such obstacles in our life, it wouldn’t be as fruitful and beautiful as it would be. When you have overcome these hurdles and willed yourself into triumphant success, smile and soak up all the glory in the aftermath---because you deserve it.

Peace and have as stress-free day!

In a new development, ALPA gave Swiss design studio Estragon a crack at creating its own rendition of the 12 TC, producing this beautiful version seen above. The ideal traveling camera – there is nothing comparable. Some see the ALPA 12 TC as the digital successor of the defunct Hasselblad SWC, but in any case, it is the smallest and lightest 6×9 roll-film camera for professionals. At the same time it is also the smallest and lightest digital camera with more than 60 MP. The 12 TC is fully integrated into the ALPA platform and all lenses, from the extreme 23-mm wide-angle to 250‑mm focal length can be used. Accessories can be attached on all four sides of the frame: for example a viewfinder, a small finger grip, a massive hand grip, a flashlight, a spirit level, a small exposure meter or whatever else is required. The entire ALPA range of accessories is available together with many accessories from other manufacturers.

Asus Eee Pad EP121 takes the iPad by the horns

Putting a rest to rumors for good is the Asus Eee Pad EP121. It packs in a 12 inch screen and is powered by the low voltage Intel CULV Core 2 Duo platform and as for the OS it runs on Windows 7 Home Premium. The unit is 12.2mm thick and weighs in at a comfortable 1.48Lbs (675 grams). Coming to the battery life Asus claims it can last for a good 10 hours, something which pegs it against the iPad.

Confidence

The JV Crew is back with a bang. To holla to the pals and gals who don’t have a heart. Stand up for what you believe in and never back down from defeat. Here are some personal tips for some personal events you might love to read about.

Confidence should run through your veins and feed your instincts. Never let people tell you you’re not good enough. Have faith, not in some ethereal being or holy spirits, but ultimately in yourself and know that what you do, has meaning and will make a difference.

If you’re having a presentation tomorrow, be ready, psyche yourself up and be confident. Let the material be a part of you. Be expressive, eloquent and effectively conversant. Imagine the audience to be your friends or naked babes in front of you---whatever floats ya boat. Bottom-line is for you to be confidently presenting information you know inside out, and not stutter nonsense like how your mom forced you.
If you’re going on a date with your hottie or crush, be confident. Don’t swell on the unpleasant, unnatural stuff that will only make you more nervous and sweat like a thawing icicle. Remember, if she is really interested in you, being yourself in the most natural and sensual way will be the best bet. Don’t think too much and focus on the fun things instead, you are already on a date with her? What’s worst?
If you’re going for an important interview or seeing your boss mano a mano, don’t panic! Freaking out will mean you have lost the battle. Be aware of your appearances, look good and smile more. Be a firm and lovely person, and not a timorous, stuttering and blundering fool. Take pride in knowing that the person opposite the desk, asking you questions that might pin you to the wall, is also as nervous or perplexed as you might be.

There are countless of scenarios and endings. Whatever the end might be, be it happy or sad, it is a learning experience and one that is personal. It will top the list of all other experiences simply because it is personal. You learn firsthand and know all the nuances that went right and wrong.

So fear not when, fear not why, fear not how, fear not ever, and fear not then.

Be Ardent, Bold, be Confident, be Decisive, be Effective, be Fervent.... seriously, the list can go on...

Peace,

JV Crew

Karl Lagerfeld Dislikes Lily Allen

As you already know now Vanessa Paradis represents Chanel handbags. Lily Allen who worked for the fashion house last year is no longer the face of the accessory line. She is reported to have been dropped because Karl Lagerfeld didn’t like her being a party girl. The singer’s contract has expired recently and it hasn’t been renewed.

A Chanel spokesperson said:
"Lily was the face, but now it is Vanessa.”

Karl Lagerfeld had not only stopped collaboration with Lily, he also broke any contacts with the star. She wasn’t invited to the recent party at the Cannes Film Festival which means she is not a part of Chanel family any more.

A source said:
"Karl had a show and a party, but Lily was not invited. It was Karl’s way of making it clear she is no longer a part of the Chanel family. He instructed his people not to invite her. He is very strict about who can represent the brand and there is a feeling that Lily is too much of a party girl.”

Lily Allen is well-known for her crazy partying and the singer’s behavior at the party at Karl’s home last year was the last drop.

The source commented:
"She got very drunk and had to be taken to the loos to sober up. Karl wasn’t impressed.”

This is how the bad reputation works. Peaches Geldof was fired from Ultimo, Lindsay Lohan from Ungaro and now Lily Allen from Chanel. Girls, don’t drink! Don’t take drugs! Don’t sleep with strangers! These three things break your life and career!

ABSOLUT x Spike Lee “ABSOLUT Brooklyn” Vodka

The world’s most iconic vodka, in collaboration with famed filmmaker and Brooklyn son Spike Lee, unveils ABSOLUT Brooklyn, the latest limited-edition, city-inspired flavor to be added to the ABSOLUT Vodka flavor portfolio. Capturing the vibrancy, diversity and rich heritage of New York City’s most celebrated borough, ABSOLUT Brooklyn features an invigorating blend of red apple and ginger replete in a specially-designed bottle reminiscent of the ubiquitous “Brooklyn Stoop Life.” Designed in collaboration with Spike Lee, the bottle is a colorful depiction of the stoop where the Brooklyn-bred auteur grew up – #165.

Harkening back to the decades-long notion that the stoop is truly the epicenter of creativity, culture and community, the bottle serves as an homage to that Brooklyn ideal of stoop life – where memories are made and ideas are sparked through conversation and camaraderie. Other subtle nods include Brooklyn nicknames on the steps of the stoop and a line from a love letter to Brooklyn, written by spoken word poet and Brooklynite Lemon Andersen.

In addition, the Lars Olsson Smith seal, never before altered on the iconic ABSOLUT bottle, has been “Spiked” – Lars wears a baseball cap and glasses evocative of Spike Lee

Sony NEX-series DSLR are super compact

Sony have introduced a brand new line of DSLRs that come under the NEX line. These are made to be super thin and consume less space in your carry case, bag, whatever. The NEX-3 and the NEX-5 are 1 inch thick. Of course, that’s without the lenses. They have the 14 mp CMOS sensors that could be found in the Alpha line of DSLRs. The E-mount lens system does well in case of these cameras however, if you’re planning to use the Alpha lenses that you have then I’m afraid, it’s not happening.

The only downside that these have that really make it lose a brownie point is the missing in-camera sensor shift stabilization. The NEX-5 can even do 1080i!
