Date Night Movie Review @ JustVim

Synopsis: Action-comedy maestro Shawn Levy, the director of the blockbuster "Night at the Museum" franchise, teams up with two of the comedy world's biggest talents, Steve Carell ("The 40 Year Old Virgin," "The Office") and Tina Fey ("Baby Mama," "30 Rock," "SNL") for an adventure that turns a run-of-the-mill married couple's date upside down -- way upside down, in DATE NIGHT.
The Justvim crew feels that this is a competent and engaging little comedy that delivers on its premise without demanding more from the audience than their enjoyment. Fey and carrel did a wondrous job in entertaining and keeping their fake on-screen marriage a lovely joy to witness. It was almost like experiencing how awkward every foible they made and how hilarious every joke they crack.
Unapologetically funny but pathetically realistic, we are hoping enough couples chose it as their date night fodder so the naturally entertaining Carell and Fey get to do it all over again. It was worth the laugh at certain bits of the movie, with its incredibly frank and blunt blunders, that was perfect for a few guffaws.

One minute its forced slapstick, the next it's a bullet-riddled car chase--and neither could prevent a wave of laughter and giggles from the audience behind and around us. The scene where renown poet common made a comment “get up, now” sounded absolutely and eerily similar when carrel imitated him at the Manhattan bistro. It was a plus scene that raised the hilarity level to almost radiantly toxic.

The crew will admit that we laughed out loud several times during this film, for it plain stupidity and absurd motions at times, and the blunt foibles committed by the characters on-screen. Special mention to the crazy pole-dancing ceremony the couples did for the corrupt Politian and his broom, come on! Who brings a broom to a nightclub with all the chicks and the alcohol?

Both Carell and Fey do a great job working with the rest of the cast, but it was the realistic humour and absurd mistakes that made the film score with most of the peeps.

Somehow, in an act of sheer alchemy, this silly, preposterous, absurd story has been turned into one of the funniest movies seen by so many in many months. Call it weird or karma, but this film is sure the bucks you pay to get in the cinema, if you are looking for some laughs and spending time with good company.

The best part about it? They are always armed with an innocence, a clever quip, and a handy escape route. In other words, it sounds like a big action film with built in coincidences that are sure to annoy the hardened action junkie. Fortunately, this is a romantic comedy with an action component. Sure, it feels familiar, but it is delivered with a couple of familiar faces doing what they do best.

Turning in its share of laugh out loud moments, Date Night, a return to the comedy caper films of years ago, owes much to the wit and sharp improved skills of stars Fey and Carell. Naturally some scenes were choppy and cliche, like the sudden entrance of the cops at the end, guess the director yelled “wrap it up boys!”, but overall, it was a realistically beautiful film that depicts a lot of reality and the ups and downs of an urban couple in today’s society.

Through their conquests, they faced real, hardening, touching and romantic issues that tested, strengthened and crystallized their unconditional love for each other. Seeing scenes like the broken but deeply romantic mr and mrs triplehorns tongue-kissing experience, the talk in the ridiculously-wasted audi R8 sports car, witnessing their own friends, happily married couples splitting after years (…just excellent room-mates…) and hallbrook grant’s amazingly hot Israeli girlfriend, perfectly chiselled body and extraordinary lifestyle, really makes you wonder about your own life.

Go figure, have a beer and chill out for a minute. Stop the stressing, stop the dissing, love for bit.

Peace

Education Talk @ JustVim

Hey all,

A lil' something for all of ya to chew on, the National Education system in Singapore.
Now, it is no surprise that Education today is overrated, under-appreciated and overwhelming these days, not only for the pupils, but the teachers too.

I mean kids go to school daily, with CCAs, Performances, Projects, CIP, Lab work and so much more on top of their normal school workload. Top schools are so packed, we are churning out information robots every year---by the way, we have wikipedia already.

The ugly truth is Society don't really need hardworking, hardcore, hardwired scholars. Instead, we need innovative, inventive and ingenious creative-thinkers who can build new concepts, revise old ideas and challenge the stigmas we face today.

Brighter, intellectually-inclined kids get the goodies in the schools, nail all the brownie points, tend to snatch all the bursaries, awards, opportunities and also thick scholarly glasses.

The less adept will be mistreated with lack of guidance, lesser opportunities, slacker workload and have more affinity with the Discipline Master's Magical Cane.

No no, please we are not comparing the streams nor labeling categories here, The JV Crew would simply like to say, what will be will be. You cannot manufacture a superstar nor give birth to talent. The process is more arduous, discombobulating, iffy and dangerous than you can ever imagine.

For all you hardworking peeps out there, stay in school, read more books, slurp more caffeine, study hard for your exams and stop memorizing essays for god's sake!

For all the slacking, less energetic and carefree scholars, stop skipping school, stay away from cigarettes and gangs, join a sport and remember, there are worser things in life than being expelled!

Mark Twain said he never allowed schooling to interfere with his education.

We say, get a grip, get a life and get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.

Peace out.

no such thing as True Love‏ ?

Holla to one and all,

The JV Crew is back with a revelation sicker than EDC's scandal, hotter than Beyonce's new MV, spicier than Lady Gaga's behind and thicker than Tiger Wood's Affair.
We had an epiphany. A stroke of wisdom from the very Gods themselves. A wise revelation beyond even the most erudite of sages.

That there is no such thing as True Love. it simply does not exist, at least for mankind, or the Teens of humanity for that matter.
True Love is interpreted in a gambit of ways, from being the very essence of what bonds a couple in nuptial marriage, to the very relationship that can withstand the test of time, faith, hardships and denigration. It is not easy to find that, and most deserted widows can testify to that, but finding it would be one of man's greatest achievements, or a woman's, for that matter.

We all have different perspective of Love, different ideologies and beliefs to craft what we want to perceive of it, but that is not the point, because we are homo Sapiens and having perspectives and thinking is what we were meant to do. Some may see infidelity as a flaw in the manuscript of human nature, while others may treat it as treason of one's trust in another. Different degrees, variations and explanations, but all nonetheless, shows how tricky and unbelievably iffy this true Love really is doesn't it?

So what makes you think, being the almighty, headstrong and infatuated individual you are, will not fall in Love's abysmal Chasm like the rest?

The Crew's contention today, is that True Love only exists as much as we want it to be. One moment we are touched by another individual's warmth and kindness, and we are suddenly so certain he / she was sent from up above to be your one True Love. The next moment, probably years later, even when the present relationship is not dying or weaning, another comes along in your work or business. You know what Mark Twain said on Men, Women and Marriage: Familiarity breeds contempt, and Children too.

Enticement is everywhere, and lo and behold, even if you have the strongest faith in your partner, the absolute truth is, the only thing that matters is not how much faith you have in them, but how much faith they have in you. Ask Tiger Woods, Edison Chen, Jack Neo, Andrew Johnson and their gang for the details.

True Love is only as good as how society want it to be. Some people choose to cherish it while it lasts, others simply live flagrant, bold and oblivious to that cold reality. Just because we choose not believe it isn't there, doesn't make it go away.

Enjoy your Love while it lasts, however long that may be.

Peace.

Lady GaGa Sacrifies Sleep To Fashion

She is just like any girl. Yes, Lady GaGa is fantastic but she isn’t different from us when it comes to thinking over outfits. I think each girl has had at least one sleepless night planning her outfit for an important occasion. And if you are a public person all your life is a special occasion and you always should look perfect.

GaGa takes fashion very seriously. She once said that celebrities should always look good because their fans deserve seeing them well-dressed. So, imagine how much time it takes to think about yor EVERY day outfits!!!

I do feel compassionate to Bad romance singer. She has established her position in the fashion world as a completely outlandish fashion icon, girl that never looks ordinary, who always attracts attention. So it’s not really surprising that she spends lots of nights awake worrying about how to outdo herself with her next ensemble.

A source close to the star said:
"She’s always planning her next outfit and wanting to constantly out-do herself. She never switches off. Ever. She’s well on her way to a breakdown and we’re all worried.’ In fact her sleeping patterns are so bad that Miss G admitted during her last bout of severe insomnia she stayed wide-eyed and wired for three days."

Talented and outrageous Lady GaGa has recently claimed she has had a dream to design costumes for Quentin Tarantino films for a long time.

She tells Britain’s OK! magazine:
"I want to direct films and music videos. I want to do things that have nothing to do with my own artistic ego (or) Lady GaGa, the empire. Lady GaGa behind the scenes, working on the fashions on a Tarantino film. I would love to do something like that.”

Lady GaGa has already been invited to play an assassin in Tarantino movie.
