Lamborghini's limited carbon production

Lamborghini's Sesto Elemento (sixth Element), the carbon fiber beauty that debuted at the Paris Motor Show two months ago, has reportedly been given the green light for production according to Auto Moto’s website, a French automotive program.


However, only a limited production of 7 to 10 units will be built. At the Paris Motor show, the concept show car was featured with a naturally-aspirated 5.2 liter V10 engine from the LP 570-4 Superleggera with 562 bhp. The car has a curb weight of just 999 kg due to its extensive use of carbon and carbon-fiber reinforced plastics, which includes a carbon-fiber monocoque structure. The Sesto Elemento comes with a permanent all-wheel drive transmission with a power-to-weight ratio of 1.75 kilograms per horsepower. The 0 to 100 km/ sprint time is clocked in at 2.5 seconds, while top speed is reported as 350 km/h prior to the Paris unveiling.

The Sesto Elemento comes with an estimated price tag of €2.5 million. Who knows, a unit of this exotic supercar might end up in the garage of a Singapore’s millionairs

Lamborghini launches its new online store. Lamborghini mugs, keyrings anyone?

Automobili Lamborghini, manufacturer of world renowned supercars has launched a brand spanking new official online store for their customers and fans to purchase official Lamborghini branded stuff. Http://www.lamborghinistore.com features direct ordering without online registration and is managed by a subsidiary of Lamborghini Holding, Lamborghini Artimarca SpA with EPI Merchandising, an e-commerce provider and licensee of many other top brands.


I suppose Lamborghini intends to fully capitalize on its brand worthiness by providing a more interactive avenue to market and sell products under its name. This is much like its Italian rivals, Ferrari, who however seem to have caught on this brand marketing trend very early on and now has its name plastered on everything from mugs, cellphones, t-shirts, laptops and most probably on some kitchen sink too.
Anyway, from Collezione Automobili Lamborghini, you can buy online a mug for 24Euro (not including shipping) or customize a 1963 vintage look sweatshirt with your name for 170Euro. There are also mouse pads, pillows, teddy bears, menswear, womenswear, children's wear, Lamboworld items as well as Super Trofeo branded apparel (Super Trofeo is the Lamborghini Gallardo specific championship).

For those that do not only want to buy the brand but something higher up the product line there is also the Lamborghini LP640 by Versace lineup. The LP640 moniker comes from the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 model that ironically had been recently discontinued. There are LP640 keyrings, bags, wallets and a belt. Citroen Metropolis concept heads for production

Citroën's CEO of Asian operations, Gregoire Olivier, has revealed that the company is planning a production version of the Metropolis concept car to compete against German luxury brands, primarily in China.


The sporty looking limousine, which will most likely be called the DS9, will be built by PSA/Peugeot-Citroën's joint venture with Changan Automobile Group in China. Olivier did not reveal the estimated production volume or a market launch date for the production version of the Metropolis. Introduction of the DS9 to markets outside China is not known at the moment. However, PSA executives have noted that they are not sure if they'll sell a hybrid version of the car in China, which leads to speculation that the DS9 could be offered in other markets including Europe as the firm's flagship model.

The Metropolis concept car is the creation of Citroën's international design team that is based in Shanghai since 2008. Even though it is built on the same platform as the Citroen C6 and Peugeot 508, the imposing limousine measures an impressive 5.3m in length, 2.0m in width and 1.4m in height, making it larger than the long wheel-base version of the new Audi A8.

In concept form, the Metropolis features a hybrid powertrain comprising of a 2.0-liter V6 engine with an electric motor, connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission At low speeds, the concept can run in pure electric mode with the battery-powered motor delivering a continuous 55bhp and a peak output of 95bhp. According to Citroen, the V6 engine churns out 272bhp with 375Nm of torque .When additional performance is required, the car uses both the powerplants to deliver a maximum output of 460bhp and 430Nm of torque. It also features a four-wheel drive mode for when extra grip is needed.

The league of ultra luxurious and ultra ugly mobile handsets has a new addition in the Tonino Lamborghini Spyder handset. The reason the range is priced at a whopping US$1781 (HK$13,800) to UIS$2813 (HK$21,800) is because they come with a 316L-grade stainless steel casing and a 2.2-inch (240 x 320 pixels) sapphire crystal scratch resistant LCD display. A 3MP camera (with VGA video recording) is the best they could throw in it seems and the range isn’t even 3G enabled but they are hand crafted and hand polished (makes no sense since you’ll have to polish it yourself as well, by hand after your fingerprints smudge the daylights out of it). A few models in the Spyder range namely the S-670, S-680 and S-685 which are the higher end models have rose gold, gold and black/gold PVD finishes. The S-600 is singled out and comes with DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) while the S-610 and S-620 have simple black PVD finishes. Maybe Lamborghini should stick to cars and laptops. The handset are incidentally headed to Hong Kong.
